I don’t know about you, but any distraction on a long haul flight is a life saver. The last overseas trip I took, was a couple of years ago to Europe. On the first leg to Singapore, I came across a mini-series which helped me get through part of the marathon trip. Patrick Melrose is a five part series that completely engrossed me. I found it at times humorous, shocking, but also heartbreaking. The series is based on the semi-autobiographical novels of Edward St. Aubyn.
Patrick Melrose had a privileged but abusive upbringing that shapes him into adulthood.
With the fabulous Benedict Cumberbatch and Australia’s Hugo Weaving in the cast, it was off to a good start.
It was nominated for many awards, not that that means a great deal to me. I’m not a particular devotee of the movies, but if someone asks about what to watch, it’s the first thing that comes to mind to recommend. Since it was some years ago I watched it, I guess that makes for a pretty good recommendation.
Wait for a weekend where you can tuck yourself away and binge watch the whole series. I might treat myself to it again some time soon.
I absolutely loved it!! Let me know what you think.
You can find it on Stan or iview.
