Last Stop #2
Original Encaustic Wax & Mixed Media Artwork
20 x 25 cm
Framed in Tasmanian Oak
Description
There’s a quiet poetry in watching a bee choose where to land. Last Stop #2 captures that fleeting moment as a tiny honeybee hovers beside a cloud of soft pink hydrangea blooms, pausing before collecting one last gift from the garden.
Part of my Last Stop series, this artwork celebrates the everyday beauty we often overlook. The bees have become an important symbol in my work, not only because I paint with beeswax, but because they remind us of the delicate balance between nature, beauty and life.
Whether displayed on its own or paired with Last Stop #3, this original artwork brings warmth, softness and a calming presence to contemporary interiors. Perfect for collectors who appreciate botanical art, meaningful storytelling and one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces.
What is Encaustic Wax Painting?
Encaustic painting is an ancient art form that uses natural beeswax mixed with damar resin (a tree sap) and pigments to create beautifully layered, luminous artworks. Each layer of wax is painted on while warm and then fused with heat, giving the surface a gorgeous depth and a soft, tactile quality you can’t get with other mediums. Every piece is unique, with textures and details that shift and change as the light catches them.
How to Care for Your Encaustic Art
Encaustic wax is surprisingly durable—it’s been around since ancient Egypt, after all! Your piece won’t melt under normal home conditions, but it’s best to keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters or extreme heat. Dust gently with a soft cloth if needed. Over time, the surface may develop a beautiful natural sheen, adding even more character to your artwork.
Shipping for International Collectors
I’m delighted to send my artwork to collectors all around the world. Because each piece is unique and shipping costs vary depending on size, weight and destination, international customers are encouraged to get in touch for the best shipping option and quote.
