Last Stop #3
Original Encaustic Wax & Mixed Media Artwork
20 x 25 cm
Framed
Description
In Last Stop #3, a honeybee pauses beside a luminous blue hydrangea, suspended in a quiet moment before continuing its journey through the garden.
This artwork is part of my Last Stop series and continues my ongoing celebration of bees and the remarkable role they play in our world. Layers of translucent encaustic wax soften the image, creating depth and an almost ethereal atmosphere that changes beautifully as the light shifts throughout the day.
Created using one of the world’s oldest painting techniques, this one-of-a-kind artwork invites a sense of calm into your home. Whether displayed alone or alongside Last Stop #2, it creates a beautiful conversation between colour, nature and light.
Ideal for collectors looking for timeless botanical artwork that complements both modern and classic interiors.
What is Encaustic Wax Painting?
Encaustic painting is an ancient art form that uses natural beeswax mixed with damar resin (a tree sap) and pigments to create beautifully layered, luminous artworks. Each layer of wax is painted on while warm and then fused with heat, giving the surface a gorgeous depth and a soft, tactile quality you can’t get with other mediums. Every piece is unique, with textures and details that shift and change as the light catches them.
How to Care for Your Encaustic Art
Encaustic wax is surprisingly durable—it’s been around since ancient Egypt, after all! Your piece won’t melt under normal home conditions, but it’s best to keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters or extreme heat. Dust gently with a soft cloth if needed. Over time, the surface may develop a beautiful natural sheen, adding even more character to your artwork.
Shipping for International Collectors
I’m delighted to send my artwork to collectors all around the world. Because each piece is unique and shipping costs vary depending on size, weight and destination, international customers are encouraged to get in touch for the best shipping option and quote.
